They’re every woman’s go-to for simple and sexy yet understated glamour. From the figure-hugging styles through to the 70s flare flashbacks, there’s a pair of denim jeans to suit every mood, trend and body shape.
In fact, the indigo thread has become so popular that no modern woman’s wardrobe is complete without at least one pair – but it’s more likely she has one pair for every day of the week.
In a recent interview with Premiere Fashion Blog, creative director of Paige premium denim brand and self-professed denimista, Paige Adams-Geller said the denim fabric has become a must-have staple because of its versatility.
“It can be worn dressed up or down and due to the many different weights and washes within this fabrication, it allows styles and looks for all seasons,” she said.
Looking at the current Fall 2011 collection starring Brit-IT girl and top fashion model, Poppy Delevigne, Paige has successfully modernised the brand’s classics injecting rich colours such as scarlet red, black cherry and pinecone brown, or adding stylish zippers onto the front panels to the Edgemont Skinny.
Click below to read more of our chat with Paige on how she feels being labelled a `jeanius’, `working her butt off’ to break into the male-dominated denim industry as a female denim designer, and making a statement at this month’s Premiere – boutique trade event for exclusive labels as a one of the top denim brands in the world.
What are the cult classic styles that every girl should own right now?
The cult classics are the Verdugo Ultra Skinny, the Skyline Ankle Peg and the Lou Lou Skinny Flare.
There is an explosion of colour in denim for spring summer, what are your personal favourites?
My personal favorites are the Verdugo in Scarlet, the Roxbury Crop in the Jenny or Tilt washes, the Skyline Ankle Peg in Black Cherry, and all styles in Daiquiri Ice.
You have been labelled a `jeanius’ in the denim industry, how does this term sit with you personally?
It is quite an honor to be called a jeanius! I like to think of it as being lucky for having a passion about creating a product where I am committed to the craft and devoted to the details.
You have also been celebrated for your world-wide success in a male-dominated industry – what was it like breaking out as a female denim designer in the early stages of the Paige brand?
It was difficult breaking out as a female denim designer. In a male dominated industry, I was the outcast. It took working my butt off, working smartly, and a lot of ambition to get here. I believed in my vision and knew there was a need for it in the denim world.
You have so many celebrity fans, can you share some of the big names including men who are loving Paige?
I am thrilled to have amazing denim trendsetters like Kate Moss, Rachel Bilson and Nicole Richie as well as Jeremy Renner, Tàylor Lautner and Mathew Morrison.

As the owner of a denim brand, obviously you own every style and colour imaginable, but is there one style you keep going back to?
I have to admit the Lou Lous are my favorite go-to jean. I feel sexy when I wear them.
Is there an iconic denim brand that inspires you?
I am inspired by so many different things, not just denim, but I would have to say I have always been inspired by the truly iconic American look of Ralph Lauren. I will also never forget the powerful imagery of a sexy, confident young Brooke Shields in the Calvin Klein ads in the 1980s.
Who is your favourite denim style icon – that is a denim fanatic and styles them the best within their everyday?
Hands down Kate Moss. She just oozes cool and wears it so well.
The Paige brand will be a highlight of the upcoming Premiere – boutique trade show for exclusive labels in Melbourne– what do you hope to gain by exhibiting at the show?
I hope that Paige makes a statement as a one of the top denim brands in the world. We are committed to delivering highly addictive trend setting pieces with considered unexpected details that you can make all your own.
Who are your Australian celebrity fans?
Our Aussie fans are Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Kylie Minogue and Isla Fisher.

If you could dress anyone in Paige – alive or dead – who would it be?
I would love to dress David Bowie, Johnny Depp, Brigette Bardot or Marion Cotillard. It would be a dream.
