With so many trends emerging on the Fall runways recently, it can be a little overwhelming deciphering what will work off the runways and in your wardrobes. So we decided to share Premiere Fashion Blog’s top 10 trends. The ones that we forsee as being translated from the catwalk to the Aussie sidewalk and coveted dearly come winter.
This is the fabric of the season. There are so many great options too, from leather shift dresses to leather shorts in high waisted buttery styles, skirts, tank tops and yes the leather pant is back. Australian label KAHLO has some of the most delicious leather on the market, or for a high street option look to ASOS.
This is a huge trend both on and off the runway and Australian label, LOVER has stolen the show with their incredibly delicate yet strong lace looks that they have also combined with leather for their latest offering. You can find the ladylike look at Burberry, but now everyone has some kind of lace version on the high street. It’s definitely a divine option, go for colour too.
This seemingly simple fur circle scarf is set to be a huge street trend. It’s all over the runways this show season, Michael Kors did it justice as well as the Olsen sisters with their Elizabeth & James line, see more at Studded Hearts. Quick to catch onto trends, ASOS has already crafted a faux fur copy.
THE STATEMENT COAT
If you had to choose one of the trends to purchase this winter, invest in a statement coat. This will be your go to, especially the tailored 3/4 length coat in a tailored trench style. Australian designer Ellery did a stunning powder blue option in her latest offering and Zara also has several options at varying high street prices.
If you haven’t adopted this look before now, well get used to seeing this and wearing this texture because it will be everywhere. While the high fashion designers use the real stuff, Premiere Fashion Blog opts for the faux fur styles and there is plenty around courtesy of Topshop, ASOS and Zara who each mimic or recreate the high fashion trends in faux. Accent a simple outfit with coloured fur, either a scarf or a bolero style. For the more daring, hunt down a mongolian or shaggy goat’s hair jacket as seen on Australian model Jess Hart HERE.
Weather it be maxi or mini, dirndle or 50s pleat, the skirt is a key look for winter. There is a style, cut and fit to suit everyone so make sure you find the right one for you and rock it with thick black tights, simple tee, statement jacket/coat and fur. Prada has been the queen of the skirt, especially coveting their green leather dirndle skirts, LOVER also did a great leather pleat version.
The motto for the season? Cuff Up. That’s right, invest in some wrist and neck cuffs, which also verges on the choker trend. But we don’t advise wearing them all together, a bit too much bling and should really be a subtle accent to an outfit. The wrist cuffs are probably the most wearable and add a bit of fun to your style. These can be worn through winter too, slide them over the top of your long sleeved shirt, jacket or skivvy (yes the skivvy is back and a key look for winter) just as Moda Operandi fashion director Taylor Tomasi Hill has done HERE.
THE MINT SWEATER
Add a hint of icy cool style to your winter wardrobe with a mint jumper. The colour in itself is already trending globally and if you needed any proof of its cult status look to stylish bloggers Shine by Three and Elin Kling who have already been spotted wearing Acne and Nowhere versions in the fresh new hue.
FLORAL PANTS or BLAZER
Floral is a print that never seems to fade from fashion for too long. Admired by all women, this print is an easy one to adopt into the styledrobe. Camila and Marc and Celine Resort 2012 both created a complete suit in a covetable floral textile. Style blogger Oracle Fox has already adopted the trend along with the neck cuff choker. But you don’t have to wear this look all at once, just buy one of them and pair with a simple white tee or jeans. Voila!
THE WHITE SHIRT
Okay we admit, this isn’t really a trend, but it is definitely a must-have. And if you are about to say you already have one, then we highly recommend updating it. The new white shirt versatility like the new collection from Dion Lee, or it’s slightly sheer with shoulder details. There are so many great options and it adds a chic sophisticated edge to any ensemble. We love how some bloggers have given theirs a western twist with silver collar tips. Use it as a key layering tool in winter, wear a mint sweater over it with the collar exposed and the tails peeking out from underneath, then pair with leather pants and boots.
