Who could possibly pull off embellished shorts better than the divine Miss Rosie Huntington-Whitely? The Victoria’s Secret model gave the traditional festival fashion trend of denim cut-offs a modern face lift by choosing a sparkly pair of J Brand x Christopher Kane cheeky shorts at the recent Coachella music festival. To tone it down, Rosie paired it with a crisp white shirt and tan suede ankle boots. Swoonsville.

With her signature flaming locks effortlessly tousled – a little undone but achingly cool – plump pout that could rival a Greek goddess, milky complexion you only wish you could bathe in, and a sultry stare sure to tempt you from saint to sinner in the coy wink of an eye – it’s all in a day’s work for iconic Australian model, Tiah Eckhardt. The ravaging redhead hailing from Perth has become an institution in Australian fashion, not just for her work as a (very) pretty face, but as an intellect with a savage wit, aspiring writer, blogger, mother and more recently, lingerie-enthusiast with her new tumblr, The Daily Knicker.
So it’s with much excitement we share this exclusive interview with Eckhardt before she hits her stride on the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia catwalk in Sydney from 30 April – May 4.

From high waisted to itty bitty booty styles, tailored chic to elasticated sports, or worn in with a dose of 90s grunge, the leather short is probably the most versatile piece you could add to your wardrobe this season. We noted in our recent Fall top ten trend report that leather was going to be the fabric of the season, and this is one piece you can maximise whether it’s a chic statement with a black man-style blazer and tights a la Miranda Kerr, or a more effortless and casual mix such as Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast seen here in 3.1 Phillip Lim quilted style.

Printed denim is everywhere and it’s inspiring to see such a bold look picked up by all the big denim brands who have embraced their love of colour, digital prints and floral. But not all printed denim was created equal. Very few have hit the target, especially when it comes to vintage-inspired floral denim. Who would have thought that this floral look would make a comeback, most of us can remember sporting floral denim shorts as a teen, but in the cyclical nature of this industry it has returned on top of the trends.
After trawling through the many, from ASOS to Shopbop, we came across this lovely J Brand Large Floral Print Skinny Jean on Denimology, worn here by the lovely Late Afternoon blogger, Liz. The black rose print against the soft blush tone is a subtler approach to the floral trend, and when paired with a printed shirt looks fresh and modern.
What do you think of the floral denim trend? and what are your favourites?
